- Twitch is partnering with Rockstar for the launch. Twitch's chief monetization officer, Mike Minton, has publicly said Twitch is working with Rockstar around the GTA 6 launch. That partnership is real; the specifics of what it includes are not yet detailed. Confirmed

Watch event, 27 August 2026
Before launch day there is one scheduled thing to watch. "Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look" premieres on Netflix, Thursday 27 August 2026, 3pm ET (8pm BST, 9pm CEST), which needs an active Netflix subscription. Six hours later it goes up free on Rockstar's YouTube channel and the official Grand Theft Auto VI site, at 9pm ET, which is 3am CEST on Friday morning. Confirmed
Expect the category to fill with reaction and breakdown streams around the free upload. What the video actually contains has not been announced: Netflix describes it only as an extended look at the game. Contents unconfirmed
Where to watch GTA 6

Twitch Drops are in-game rewards you earn just by watching participating streams while your accounts are linked. Rockstar has run Drops for GTA Online before, so the mechanic is well understood, even though no GTA 6 specific Drops campaign has been announced. On servers in the NoPixel and FiveM mould, streamers play consistent characters in a shared city, and the drama pulls enormous audiences across English, Spanish and Portuguese communities.
